Terms of Use

Scanner for iOS and Android · Last updated 13 September 2026

These terms govern your use of Scanner. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the app.

1. The agreement

Scanner is provided by Calipso Trade LLC, 312 W 2nd St, PMB 5670, Casper, WY 82601, United States. By installing or using the app you accept these terms. The terms of the store you obtained the app from also apply, and prevail where they conflict with these.

2. What the app does

Scanner photographs pages, corrects their edges, and assembles them into PDF files stored on your device. It also reads QR codes. As a paid option it can transcribe handwritten text by sending a single page image to our recognition service; what happens to that image is set out in our Privacy Policy.

3. Recognition is not guaranteed to be accurate

Handwriting recognition is produced by a machine learning model. It will sometimes be wrong. It may misread names, dates, and figures, and may render an illegible passage as something plausible but incorrect.

Do not rely on a transcription for any legal, medical, financial, or official purpose without checking it against the original page. It is provided as an aid to reading, not as a verified record, and we make no warranty as to its accuracy or completeness.

4. Signing a document

The signing feature draws an image of your handwritten signature onto the page and flattens it into the document. In most countries, including under the US ESIGN Act and the EU eIDAS regulation, a signature applied this way counts as a simple electronic signature and is valid for everyday agreements.

It is not a qualified electronic signature and carries no cryptographic certificate. We do not certify your identity, and a PDF reader cannot verify who signed or whether the document was altered afterwards.

Where the law requires a qualified or advanced electronic signature — in the EU this covers certain property, employment, and public-authority documents — this feature is not sufficient, and you should use a qualified trust service provider instead.

5. Recognitions you buy

Refunds are handled by the store you bought from, under its own policy — Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com, Google through Google Play. We cannot refund a store purchase ourselves. If something failed on our side, write to support@calipsotrade.com and we will restore the balance.

6. Your documents are yours

You keep every right in the documents you scan. We claim no ownership and no licence to use them, and we do not use them to train any model. You are responsible for having the right to scan and transcribe whatever you put in front of the camera.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use the app or the recognition service to break the law, to infringe someone's copyright or privacy, to process material you have no right to process, to probe or overload our service or use it outside the app, or to resell the service as your own. If the service is being abused from a device, we may suspend that device; where we do so in error, we will restore both access and balance.

8. Availability

We do not promise uninterrupted availability of the recognition service. When it cannot run, the app will say so and will not consume a recognition. Everything the app does on the device — scanning, cropping, assembling PDFs, reading QR codes — works without any connection.

9. Liability

The app is provided as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or loss arising from reliance on a transcription you did not check. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep all rights your local consumer law gives you.

10. Changes and ending the agreement

We may update these terms; we will change the date above and note material changes in the app's release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it. You may end this agreement at any time by deleting the app.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
